In early May of 2010, our group set forth with a cooperative pitch, followed by individual break-out sessions to bring staff toward their choice of collaborative learning tools. My session focused on building a professional network on Twitter. Aside from a basic overview of the website and its general functions, I also focused on practical uses in the classroom, and how to find information that is relevant to oneself. Another big part of our discussion was avoiding information overload through organizational means including lists, twittertim.es, and TweetDeck.
The notes I included to participants are attached below. At the end of my session, despite a feeling of mixed success, I had sowed the seeds for the speedy professional network of several staff members, as well as recruited them for my own.
